Find Sanctuary is a special place. This modern pilot cabin is tucked perfectly in the San Bernardino Mountains. It's as if it was naturally constructed as part of the surrounding landscape. The large windows offer not only breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, but also allow the sunlight to illuminate the interior with an amber glow.

The founder, Charlie Hammond, created Find Sanctuary to offer city dwellers a bridge to the natural world. Through this, Charlie and his team are striving to offer spaces that allow people to focus on and value their mental health. Find Sanctuary invites guests to unwind and reset, while reconnecting with one's self, others, and nature. After my two night stay, I can say that Charlie and the professionals at Find Sanctuary are truly succeeding.

A little bit about their one-of-a-kind pilot cabin. The uniqueness of this structure is unparalleled. Coming equipped with a California kind bed, full kitchen, rain shower and bath, indoor wood burning fireplace, outdoor fire pit, and outdoor deck space, this modern getaway has everything you desire in a vacation style rental. The space also features a large desk with breathtaking mountain views.

I believe what sets Find Sanctuary apart is their cabin's setting and location. As previously mentioned, the cabin is perfectly perched within the mountain landscape to offer not only spectacular views, but an overwhelming sense of peace. Both morning and evening, I found myself taking in the views from either the comfortable deck space or the elevated bar table that is situated in front of a large foldout window (as seen in the images above and below). I spent my time either reading, journaling, listening to music, or simply deep in thought. It's the type of place that leaves you counting your blessings, while wanting to soak up every ounce of life.

On their website, Find Sanctuary states, "Rituals of daily life, including cooking, showering, and sleeping, are all connected to the outdoors." Through thoughtful creativity, they've found a way to make visitors feel immersed in nature, while having all of the modern conveniences we've grown accustomed to. It's an added bonus that their current pilot cabin location is only a two hour drive from San Diego and approximately a one hour drive from Los Angeles. The great accessibility of a cabin that feels so remote is something that has stuck with me following my stay. At multiple moments during my visit, I felt as if I was the only one in the mountains.

I spent much of my stay reflecting on the past year. It's been one year since my significant other and I moved to California from Minnesota. A lot has happened, a lot has changed. Find Sanctuary offered the perfect setting to spend alone time sifting through the successes, shortcomings, lessons learned, and ultimately my path moving forward. Their idyllic setting created the space for me to be present in thought, while getting reconnected with the natural world around me. I left this experience in the mountains feeling grounded and revitalized.

In closing, I can't recommend Find Sanctuary enough. Their team was extremely professional and accommodating. I hope my images and blog post paint a picture of the unique opportunities they are in the midst of creating. For more information and to get connected with Find Sanctuary, click the links below.
