Northern Recreation Retreat

Matthew Browne

Ironton Island features multiple structures ranging from brand new custom built cabins to rustic tiny A-frames nestled in nature. Positioned above a 20+ acre expanse of wetland, the view from the cabins is both relaxing and revitalizing. The wetlands feature a vast area of water that’s home to a variety of wildlife and vegetation. During your stay, you’ll fall asleep to the sounds of nature. When you wake up to make your morning cup of coffee and stoke the wood burning fire, you’ll be captivated by the beauty of the sunrise.

These cabins were built by a husband and wife team who combined their passions and skill sets. The Iron Owl, the cabin featured in these photos, sleeps four guests with a queen bedroom on the main floor and sleeping quarters in the loft. There’s an accommodating patio and outdoor fire pit for guests to enjoy while they wind down from the day’s adventures.

Located one mile from Cuyuna Lakes Trail Head, this area of Minnesota is a recreational paradise. The exterior even features a modern and aesthetically pleasing bike rack for guests who choose to take advantage of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails, which feature 70 miles of Rose Gold that twist their way through Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area. With dozens of purpose built trails, riders can select breath-taking rides that match their cycling ability and experience level. Ironton Island is also located within one mile of downtown Crosby, where guests can find a variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options.

This is a stay that you truly have to experience. Living in our constant on-the-go society, time spent in nature is becoming more and more scarce. Ironton Island offers the opportunity to immerse yourself along the edge of the water and towering pines, while sharing a memorable experience with those that you cherish most.
